Celes

Object 'Celes' belongs to the 'Final Fantasy VI Characters' theme.

Connection to Terra:

For a while, Celes and Terra were "bad guys" together on the Empire's side, where Celes was nominally in charge of Terra. Of course, when Celes revolted against the Empire and joined the Returners, she expressed remorse for what Terra was put through.

Celes traveled on the ship to Thamasa with Terra and Locke, but the two women treated each other distrustfully because of Kefka's deceptions in the Magitek Research Facility.

Terra and Celes were unique among the cast for their innate ability to wield magic (though Strago could also use some, but his was of a different variety).

Connection to Locke:

Locke rescued Celes from the Empire, when she was imprisoned by them after apparently revolting and getting caught. Immediately, there was some romantic tension between them. Indeed, though Final Fantasy VI was hardly a romantic RPG, Locke and Celes were the rare exception, with some hinted romance (and even a minor love triangle with Setzer!)

Celes and Locke traveled from South Figaro to Narshe, where they fought together in the battle for the esper. Later, they teamed up to storm the Magitek Research Facility (it was Locke's idea for Celes to play as Maria in the opera house so they could get Setzer to lend his airship). In that facility, however, Kefka deceived Locke, suggesting Celes was an imperial spy all along. Celes used all her power to save Locke as Kefka was about to kill him and his party, and Locke and Celes were separated.

They would meet after the war ended, and take the ship to Thamasa together. However, their relationship at this time was very cold, due to Kefka's cunning deceptions.

After the world ended, Celes found hope when she saw Locke's bandana on a wounded bird. This inspired her to leave her desert island and seek Locke out. In the game's ending, there were hints that Locke's and Celes' relationship might deepen.

Connection to Edgar:

The only real non-optional interaction between Celes and Edgar (besides fighting in the battle for the esper at Narshe) was when they met in the World of Ruin. At that time, Edgar was disguised as Gerad, and hid his identity from Celes. Only after she followed him, suspecting he was really Edgar, did he finally reveal his identity. Then they fought together until, meeting Setzer in Kohlingen and struggling together to dig up the Falcon.

Connection to Setzer:

Setzer wants to marry Celes. He's evidently not very particular-- he originally wanted to marry Celes' look-alike Maria, and kidnapped Celes by mistake, but he never seems to mind the mix-up. Setzer is convinced to help the party when Celes challenges him to a coin toss with her hand in marriage as the stakes.

In the World of Ruin, Celes meets Setzer in the tavern in Kohlingen, where he's moping despondently. She convinces him to take up arms once more against Kefka, breaking him out of his gloom. The two then fight (with Edgar and Sabin) in Darryl's Tomb to unearth the buried Airship Falcon.

Connection to Kefka:

Kefka and Celes used to be colleagues, fellow generals of the Empire, until Celes rebelled.

At the Magitek Research Facility, Kefka deceived Locke and the group into suspecting Celes is a spy. Celes, however, attacks Kefka, and rescues the group from imminent destruction at Kefka's hands.

In the climactic confrontation at the Floating Continent, Kefka tries to seduce Celes back toward the dark side. He goes so far as to give her a sword to stab the other good guys (who Kefka has frozen). Celes resists, and stabs Kefka instead, which seems to tip him even further into insanity.

In the World of Ruin, it is Celes who initially begins gathering the scattered adventurers together and organizing the desperate underdog fight back against Kefka.
