Twitter
Object 'Twitter' belongs to the 'Top Websites' theme.Connection to Google:
Twitter is disruptively innovative to Google and to web search in general: with Twitter came the concept of real time search, which Google is still struggling to perfect. Being the king of realtime, Twitter is the first website to establish and maintain foothold in a technology which really has a nontrivial chance of revolutionizing how we search for information. (Other websites, like YouTube, had this chance, but Google bought them all up.)
Connection to Facebook:Facebook invented the concept of the personal feed, with users posting updates about their lives which are broadcast to their friends. Twitter took this idea and ran with it, making it so that not just your friends can see your updates, but the entire world.
A crucial difference between Twitter and Facebook is that Facebook imposes a 5,000 friend limit, and both friends must agree before a connection is created between them. Twitter has no follower or followee limit, and you can follow anyone you want, without getting their permission. The reason this is important is that it allows people to follow famous celebrities, some of whom have literally tens of millions of followers.

Twitter tweets have been called "microblogs". They take the personal conversation aspect of blogging and recast it by eliminating the 2,000 word walls of text everyone's familiar with from Blogger.
